Heintooga Cottage - Asheville, North Carolina
-a mountain refuge

"Heintooga" is originally a Cherokee tribal word meaning a hiding place, refuge, or a dwelling in the wilderness. We feel a sense of tranquility on our plot of the Cane Creek Valley. The two story cottage is a cedar structure with bath, kitchen, living room, and an upstairs bedroom/studio. The furnishings reflect the eclectic nature of our own tastes and our respect for native culture. The kitchen floor of heart pine was first laid in 1920--then again in 1998. Rock your cares away on the covered porch, catch up on your reading, or simply enjoy the company of someone special overlooking the Purple Garden, the Garden of Eden, or the Rock Garden. We have cultivated flora, as well as a number of wild beauties native to the region blooming on site, including flame azalea, trout lily, whorled pagonia, lady slippers, to name but a few. Take the bikes to Brush Creek nearby. Eat in or dine out. Several organic groceries are located nearby, as well as the best Western North Carolina has to offer recreationally. Above all, relax, relax, relax...
