This charming one bedroom creekside cottage overlooks Elk Creek just outside the small rural village of Doty which still boasts that is has one of the few remaining "real" country stores left in the state. This upper Chehalis River Valley offers striking views of Mt. Rainier and the surrounding Willapa Hills which are densely forested and home to a wide variety of birds and wildlife. Elk Creek is one of the few remaining prestine fishing streatms that meanders down the lush valcano valleys in Lewis County.

The cottage is located 18 miles west of Chehalis near Rainbow Falls State Park on Scenic Byway #6. Antiques and "future antiques" supply the interior of the cottage with a sense of warmth and country comfort. The cottage has a bedroom with queen bed, full bath, fully equipped kitchen, and a living room with a sleeper sofa and dining room. You can enjoy views of the creek and surrounding woodlands while relaxing on the deck or from most every room in the cottage. The cottage accommodates four people comfortably.

Explore the richness and diversity of this rural setting. Walk, fish, ride, run, nap, cook, sit, sup or watch the light paint pictures on the water as it flows by heading for the falls. Enjoy an afternoon BBQ. Take a leisurely bike ride along miles of country roads. Visit the neighboring village of Dryad the site of an 1890's ghost town just a half mile away. Fish for Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout from the deck or visit the fish ladder at the falls just a few steps away to observe migrating salmon. Mt. Rainier, St. Helens and ocean beaches are close enough for short day trips by car and it's less then an hours drive from Olympia the state capital.

Also along Byway #6 you can visit the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad's steam train for a nostalgic ride along the Chehalis. Rainbow Falls State Park, only a mile from the cottage, has trails through old growth forest, great swimming holes, picnic shelters, baseball diamonds and swings for the "kid in you."

It's hard to image a more inviting way to be soothed to sleep then by the rythym of the creed with it's rapids above and waterfall below the cottage. Allow yourself to be drawn in by the beauty of the creek and surrounding woodlands. Calm prevails over this unique location where even the sunlight walk on tiptoes.

  • The cottage is loczated 18 miles west of Chehalis in southwest Washington near Rainbow Falls State Park on Scenic Byway #6.
  • Directions: From I-5, take exit 77 at Chehalis. Turn west onto Scenic Hwy #6. Drive 18 miles and turn onto Stevens Road which take you to the town of Doty. The Cottage is located just 1.5 miles from Doty along Elk Creek. Parking for two vehicles is available.

Night and weekly Rates:
  • 2 NIGHT MINIMUM
  • 1-2 guests $85 per night
  • Additional person $20 each

  • A security deposit of $200 is required prior to occcupancy. If cancellation is made 20 days or more prior to occupancy date, fees will be refunded less a $35 rebooking fee. Less then 15 days, fees (except for the security deposit) will not be refunded.
